About Us
KTPH-Academy for Integrative Sonography in Emergency and Resuscitation

We began as a group of enthusiastic emergency physicians in the A&E Department at Alexandra Hospital dedicated to integrating Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) into clinical practice. On 25 February 2008, Dr. Francis Lee introduced the WINFOCUS Basic Ultrasound Life Support (USLS) course to Alexandra Hospital, marking the first WINFOCUS ultrasound course conducted in Asia.
Since then, we have consistently organized numerous USLS courses, which have garnered positive feedback both nationally and regionally. This ongoing effort has paved the way for exciting collaborations, as AACES instructors have actively participated in teaching at ultrasound courses and conferences throughout the Asia-Pacific, enhancing our collective expertise.

On 1 July 2014, the A&E department at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital formalized its commitment to providing educational opportunities in POCUS by establishing the Alexandra Academy in Clinical Emergency Sonography (AACES), a name thoughtfully conceived by Dr. Toh Hong Chen.
AACES expanded the offerings to include the Abdominal Sonography Course (ASC) and the Critical Care and Emergency Procedure Course (CCEP). This development underscores our commitment to broadening ultrasound applications at the point of care, ultimately empowering physicians to enhance patient care through effective bedside ultrasound use.
We extend our gratitude to all past participants of our courses. It has been a privilege to share the utility of POCUS with over 500 individuals from various disciplines and stages of their careers. Your curiosity and enthusiasm have continually inspired us to go the extra mile in our teaching. We also recognize and value the contributions of our external invited instructors, whose expertise has been instrumental to the success of our courses.
Our organization is now known as K-AISER (KTPH Academy for Integrative Sonography in Emergency and Resuscitation). This new name reflects our strong connection with Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and underscores our commitment to providing high-quality POCUS training.
